These images by Peter Bennetts anticipate further works to Elwood House while revisiting a completed project some twelve years on and capturing a history of renovation by many hands to the site. Works in the last twenty years were undertaken by both the current owner and NMBW, with earlier renovations to convert the original single storey dwelling into a boarding house.
These photographs represent the passing of time in a family home, with the ageing of the timber fence and cladding coinciding with the teenagers growing up and moving out while the client’s art collection has expanded and moved in. The native planted ground plane (landscape design by Rush Wright) has slowly merged with the public landscape of the canal while the rooftop contains a productive vegetable garden and exotic potted plants.
