Curtain Call is a study of mid-century curtain walls in Melbourne by Marika Neustupny in association with RMIT School of Architecture. The book is made up of original drawing and photographic research, documenting many modernist buildings under threat of façade ‘upgrade’ and analysing their surprisingly site specific design parameters. The specific questions intended to be raised by this publication concern the relationship between construction, program, location, history and experience; in particular how the curtain wall surface of the selected buildings are perceived and understood. Its images have been referred to multiple times, including the Thames and Hudson publication More: The Architecture of Lyons 1996-2011 and illustrations for the curtain wall entry of the Encyclopedia of Australian Architecture.
